Our Christmas

Filed under: Daily Thoughts — Trish @ 12:20 am

The week before Christmas I was worried because Elias missed 4 days of school right before vacation because of being sick. Poor guy was 4 days in bed with a high fever. After 4 days he was back to his old self. I was thankful, nothing is worse than being sick on Christmas.

Christmas Eve, we went to my Mom’s for dinner and a gift exchange, I forgot my camera! Mom took lots of pictures and I am waiting to get those from her so I can post some of them. The food was awesome and the being with the family was even better.

When we got home, it took forever for the boys to go to sleep. I think it was after 12am when I had to go in and basically tell them Santa was not coming if you didn’t go to sleep. I think it was 10mins later they were out like a light.

xmas08-3As you can see Santa came and left all kinds of goodies. Santa was tired too, because it was late when “I” finally went to bed.

xmas08-1Christmas morning the paper and boxes flew open. As you can see Miss Laylah is trying to see what in the world all this stuff is. Or she is trying to get one more nibble on my fake tree!

adamxmas08Adam really was into Christmas this year, I think he really understood what it was.

adamxmas-2This is one of his favorite things. He carried this thing around all day. Even I had fun with it. I remember those when I was younger of course they were not plastic then they were made out of metal.

eliasxmas081Elias and his slippers. All he kept saying was that he wanted slippers for Christmas.

xmas08-5What a mess! See Daddy over there had to almost get out some power tools to get the toys out from their boxes. It is insane the way they pack things now a days.

xmas08-4And this is my bookshelf, with all my cards and pictures I recieved from family and dear friends. As you can see on the top Noah’s picture is missing and the others are crooked. That is because Roxie figured out she could jump up there and knocked everything around *sigh*

Christmas Day, Dale took the boys to his Fathers for their presents. I would have pictures of that too, but he forgot I put the camera in his Jeep. After that Dale met us at my Dad’s for dinner and gifts. Here are some of my favorite pictures, but to see them all click here. I will be adding more to that when I get more photos from Mom.

Luke 2
The Birth of Jesus
1.In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3. And everyone went to his own town to register.

4.So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7. and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

The Shepherds and the Angels
8. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. 12. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13. Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14. “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”

15. When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

16. So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18. and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

Our Christmas Tree

Filed under: Daily Thoughts — Trish @ 9:49 pm

When I put this tree up I never knew the story behind it. I received this tree from my Mom many years ago. Today she told me the story. She purchased this tree about 2o or so years ago from a gift from one of her customers at her beauty shop. I showed her the tree through email and she wanted to know if it was real, I laughed and said no, it was the one she gave to me. She was shocked because it looked so good.

tree08-1And on top of the tree was another thing Mom gave to me. The angel. Mom used this angel to top our tree when I was a child. I have no idea how old she is but she still is beautiful, even if she is missing some of her garland and her head isn’t all the way attached anymore.

On November 29th we had a dinner with my moms side of the family. This was the first time we all have been together in a long time. Wonderful food and great family time, made for a great day. Thanks to Mom for all your hard work in preparing for this dinner. And everyone else who brought yummy food!

Since there were so many pictures I have uploaded them to my Flickr account. Click HERE and you can see them and download the ones you want.
