Just The 6 Of Us

Happy Birthday Noah!

Filed under: Daily Thoughts — Trish @ 7:56 pm

My oldest son is 10 today! Can you believe it? I certainly can’t. He is getting to be such a big boy, tall, dark and handsome. But don’t let him hear me say that or he will be blushing.

I met him 6 years ago, right before he turned 4. He couldn’t remember my name (most of the time) so he called me HEY. It makes me laugh just to think about it. He was shy and didn’t talk much. But I loved him the instant I saw him. So small, innocent to the things that were happening around him. He fell into step with the rest of us after a while and he was just part of our family. When Elias came along some several months later, he was the best big brother and he loved him so much. He couldn’t wait to get over to our house for the weekend so he could spend time with Elias. Noah had a love for dinosaurs and I remember in the hospital after Elias was born, Noah gave him his first one. Five years later they are still the same. We have since added Adam to the mix and Noah never missed a beat being the Big, Big Brother. He is their protector, friend and playmate.

I can’t wait to see what the future holds for him. I am almost positive that it will be something in the gardening field. He loves to plant and watch things grow.

I asked Noah if he felt different today and he replied that he did. He said he felt older and much bigger, like he could do anything. I chuckled and said well all of those things are true, if you put your mind to it, you can achieve anything! Of course, cartoons were on and he shrugged me off, but somewhere in there I know he heard me.

There aren’t enough words to express how much I love this guy, he is my son. Biology isn’t necessary.

Another gross day

Adam- “Mommy, a booger.”

He is pointing at me with the biggest booger I have ever seen come out of a 2 yr old on his finger.

Elias (whispering to Adam)-”Eat it.”

Adam-”NO, dats yucky!”

Me- “Elias, don’t tell him that.”

Adam- “Here Mommy, throw it outside.”

He wipes it on my arm and runs away!

Elias-”See Mom, He should of ate it.”

NO…it is NOT chocolate!

Filed under: Daily Thoughts — Trish @ 4:15 pm

Adam has finally taken and interest in potty training…YAY. Yesterday, he didn’t wear a diaper all day, which was a great stride in the right direction. Because this child hates not to have pants on.

We have wood floors so clean up, when we had an accident, was easy peasy. He finally figured out that pee-pee comes out of his pee-pee. So we had 3 small accidents yesterday and everytime he started to go, he would run to the bathroom. Of course, he was done by then, but he has put 2 and 2 together. See me jumping up and down ;)

UNTIL……I am at the kitchen table he walks over to me and says, “Wash hands?” Now at this point I figured he got marker on him and wanted to wash up. I turn towards him and then he says, “Look chocolate, Ma! In my butt.” Oh yes, he has done exactly what you are thinking, right in the dining room. *SIGH* I jump up, scrambling to get him before he could do the worst thing ever with his “chocolate” covered pudgy fingers!

Have you ever tried to explain to a 2 year the difference between poo and chocolate. Not easy I tell you. He probably heard, “Blah, Blah, Blah…POOP….Blah, Blah, Blah CHOCOLATE.”

Who knows if he got it or not. It is pretty funny today, but yesterday not so much! He has not pooed today, so we shall see if my talk worked. I am thinking….NO!

Happy Birthday Dad!

 Remember our song? Daddy’s Girl

I love you very much!

DADDY’S GIRL
By Red Sovine

I recall the night …
That you came into this world
I couldn’t believe the doctor
When he said, “It’s a little girl.”
I said, “Now Doc you must be wrong
You see I want a boy.”
Then he laid you in my arms
And my heart sang with joy. …

CHORUS:
Daddy’s Girl … Daddy’s Girl …
I’m the champ … of Daddy’s world …
I know I’m Daddy’s number one
For he loves me like I was his son
Daddy’s Girl.

I recall the day I took you to a baseball game
You brought along your baby doll and half its’ baby things
We sat there a-playin’ house, while the Dodgers played the Braves
And ev’ryone in the bleachers, looked at us as if to say.

CHORUS:
I recall the day I took you on a fishin’ trip
You said, “Daddy won’t that hook - hurt the fishes’ lip?”
And you said if they don’t get air
Those things in the can will die
So we turned the worms all loose
And chased some butterflies.

CHORUS:
Daddy’s Girl … Daddy’s Girl …
I’m the champ … of Daddy’s world …
I know I’m Daddy’s number one
For he loves me like I was his son
Daddy’s Girl.

I recall the day that your young man came to call
Seems like only yesterday, you swam and played football
But I know the time has come, that I must set you free
But no matter where you are, you know what you are to me.

CHORUS: (2X)

Don’t Blink

Filed under: Daily Thoughts — Trish @ 6:11 pm

I love the lyrics to this song. Having 4 children it seems as though I did blink and they are the age they are now and so am I.

Kenny Chesney-Don’t Blink

I turned on the evening news
Saw an old man being interviewed
Turning a hundred and two today
They asked him what’s the secret to life
He looked up from his ol’ pipe
Laughed and said,
“All I can say is”

Chorus
Don’t blink
Just like that
You’re six years old and you take a nap
And you wake up and you’re twenty-five
And your high school sweetheart becomes your wife
Don’t blink
You just might miss your babies growing like mine did
Turning into moms and dads
Next thing you know
Your better half of fifty years is there in bed
And you’re praying God takes you instead
Trust me friend
A hundred years goes faster than you think
So but don’t blink

I was glued to my TV
When it looked like he looked at me
And said,
“Let’s start putting first things first”
‘Cause when your hourglass runs outta sand
You can’t flip it over, start again
Took every breath God gives you, for what it’s worth

Chorus

So I been trying to slow it down
I been trying to take it in
In this here today, gone tomorrow world we’re living in

Chorus

Now, don’t blink
Don’t blink
Life goes faster than you think
Don’t blink
Life goes faster than you think
Don’t blink
Don’t blink
Life goes faster than you think

Adjusting

Filed under: Daily Thoughts — Trish @ 9:51 am

To the quiet around here and I think I am doing very well ;) Adam has been playing by himself a lot more and I in turn have been able to do more things around the house. Before it seems that Elias and Adam were always in competition for my attention and with Elias gone most of the day, Adam could care less what I am doing.

We do share a book in the afternoon, some puzzles and coloring. This is right after lunch and before nap time. I have about 3 hours to myself with no kids and I cant tell you what a stress reliever that is! Don’t get me wrong I love all my children and would love to have them home with me everyday all day, but I am appreciating the extra quiet I am getting now that school has started.

I found the library on Tuesday and Adam loved it. All the books and movies they had. When we go there they were doing a little activity, he jumped right it. Totally different from when Elias was his age. Although, he was the loudest child there, a little embarassing to say the least.

I have read the first 5 books of the Left Behind Seriesand they are outstanding. Of course the library didn’t have book 6. They had 7 & 8 but not 6. I was really disappointed. So I had to order it and I have since started to read another book that my BFF Erin ;) gave me called Heart of Gold. I am loving this one too, a nice romance by Jessica Bird.

I am anxiously awaiting for the arival of J.R. Wards Lover Unbound. I preordered this book about 3 weeks ago. It is due to come out on the 25th. Which reminds me my dear friend Angie received a ARC of this book and is doing a review of it today. I must go read what she thought!

School has started!

Filed under: Daily Thoughts — Trish @ 8:56 pm

Three of my darling children are in school this year! Can you hear that? …….It’s called quiet! Now I still have Adam and he wont be going to school for another 3 years, but he is so much quiter by himself than with the other 3!

The night before the 1st day of school Elias was really excited. He kept saying, ” one more sleep right Mom?” He was not up as early as my dear friend Erin’s boy Damon, but he was up and awake ready to go by 8. If you know Elias you know him as the shy and quiet type, especially around people he doesnt know. Not on the 1st day of school, he waited anxiously for the bus and he hopped on and he was gone. I am really proud of myself and I am sure Dale is too, because I didnt shed 1 tear. I did when my oldest went to school. But this time I was filled with pride and accomplishment. That’s my boy, look how grown he is and what a great kid!

When the bus came to drop him off, the bus driver informed me that Elias was crying on the way home. When I asked him why, he said it was because he wanted the bus to get home quicker, he missed me! AWWWWW he knows how to make my heart melt. I think it was just first day nerves, because today he didnt have any tears just smiles.

Getting information from a 5 year about school is like pulling teeth. I did learn a trick though to gain information without asking 100 questions…..let him call his brother! He told Noah everything! I hear Elias say that the teacher said if you like to sing raise your hand. Elias said he didnt because he hates to sing, but they sang anyway! He also told his brother that they need to get some more tables, because he had to sit on the floor LOL. Oh and dont tell Mom but I threw my chips in the trash! I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes.

So he survived his 1 and 2nd day. Adam and I are in heaven with a quiet house! So it is a win, win situation!
