Sick Replay

Filed under: Daily Thoughts — Trish @ 6:35 pm

I am feeling so much better this week….YAY, right! Nope! Elias is now sick with the fever and throwing up. WAHHHHH! Why can’t Momma catch a break? Poor guy I feel so bad for him, because he hates to throw up. So when he does it is this big drama involved episode. I slept on the couch last night, so he could see me and be near me. Thank God for a new soft comfy couch!

My day has had it’s upside. I was wandering around the internet, blog hopping to be exact and came across this Blog and was in heaven with all the freebies she has listed. Some really nice digital finds. I was impressed. I have bookmarked it, I just told my friend Kelly if I had more money I would be up to my eyeballs in digital kits!

Sick x2

Filed under: Daily Thoughts — Trish @ 9:50 pm

Not to mention tired. I am cranky, stuffed up, sneezy, horse and did I mention cranky?  I hate to be sick, but most of all I hate not being able to breathe out of my nose. My 2 very good friends these past 2 days are 12 hour Nasal Spray and Sinus Congestion/Pain.

Adam is sick as well although, he decided it was enough just to have a cold like Mommy. No, he ran a 101 fever for 2 days and was throwing up. So he is cranky and I mean cranky. Bless his little heart.

Of course Mom doesnt get sick days, so the other four in the house are fine and just as happy as they can be. I am rolling my eyes really hard right now =) I did get a sweet thing from Dale, he went out and bought me some medicine and brought me some chocolate. I didnt tell him, but it wasnt my favorite, it was his, but it was delicious, bwahahahahaha! It is the thought, right?

The weekend better get her fast and in a hurry. Because I figure I should feel better by then!

Food

Filed under: Daily Thoughts — Trish @ 6:53 pm

Today I have been doing a lot of talking about food and recipes. I was talking earlier to Melissa about planning meals and recipes for the week before she goes to the store. It is so much easier than walking around trying to figure out what to make that week. Also in my experience so far my grocery bill is cheaper.

Then I was talking to my step-mom about Susan’s upcoming sweet 16 birthday party and the menu for that. Somehow we got talking about Strawberry Spinach Salad. Let me say, if you have not had this you need to run right out and make it, now. It is to die for. We had this at one on my Moms Night Out & Penny graciously posted the recipe on our Moms group.

Well I told Melissa that I would try to post a recipe that I made during the week in hopes it will help her to serve different things. So this is for you Melissa, this is a nice summer salad and simple to make, I bet you, Michael and the kids will love it.

Strawberry Spinach Salad
Dressing :
1 Lemon
2Tbs White wine vinegar
1/3 C sugar
1Tbs Vegetable oil
1 tsp Poppy seeds

Salad :

1/4 C sliced almonds, toasted (optional)
8 oz (1 1/2 C ) Strawberries hulled and 1/4′d
1/2 Medium cucumber, sliced and cut in 1/2
1/4 Small red onion sliced into thin wedges (1/4 C)
1pkg Baby spinach

1. For dressing, juice lemon and add 2 Tbs juice, combine juice w/ the rest of the dressing ingredients and whisk well. Cover and refrigerate.

2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees, spread almonds in a single layer over the bottom of a bar pan. Bake 10 - 12 mins or until lightly toasted.

3. Place hulled strawberries, sliced cucumbers, onion and ripped spinach into a bowl , pour dressing over it and toss.

4. Sprinkle w/ almonds

Elias-”Mom, you should of seen the flood!”

Me-”What flood it isn’t raining.”

Elias-”The Ants had a flood, you know the hills?”

Me-”Elias, they could not of gotten wet it isnt raining. Ok, how did they have a flood?”

(laughing so hard he could hardly talk and grinning from ear to ear)

Elias- “I peed on them!”

Adventures in potty training

Filed under: Daily Thoughts — Trish @ 6:34 pm

I decided to write on this topic today, because one of my friends in my playgroup was asking questions about it. Of course it made me think of Adam. Oh my dear little Adam bear. He is two and I have started this with him. I have since slowed down because I can tell he just isnt ready yet. Earlier in the week I decided to keep his diaper off and try to get him to go in the potty. After many failed attempts I put his diaper back on and said, “Adam, you need to pee-pee in the potty.  His responce, matter of factly, to this was, “No, I pee-pee in pants.”

His brother was potty trained by his 2nd birthday. Another one of my girlfriends calls him a genius because he was trained so early, I say this isnt true. The reason why it isnt true is, because he picks his nose and eats it, most of the time genuis’ dont do that :)
I guess this is another reason to back up the therory all children are different and do things in their own time and their own way.

Happy Birthday Kimberley

Filed under: Daily Thoughts — Trish @ 6:43 pm

Today is my nieces birthday! I cant believe that she is growing up so fast.

Dear Kim,

Aunt Tricia is thinking of you today and how it doesnt seem so long ago when you were born, I was standing right there. A cute little bald squirmy thing. You gave your mom a hard time getting here, but she was a trooper. It seems that you and I were inseprable, even when I didnt have my own kids I would come and get you. I had you at my house when you were 3 days old. We spent a lot of time together you and I. I miss those times. I hope that you had a wonderful day and you got lots of attention, presents and cake. Know that I love you and that I think of you often. Sending you lots of hugs and kisses.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Sweetheart!

Love ALWAYS,

Aunt Tricia
